He and his colleagues had conducted ethnographic studies on families and their children. Like many ethnographic studies — theirs uncovered many needs. Their main finding was that managing kids activities is stressful for dual-income families. Scott and his team were interested in how ubiquitous technologies in the home could help activity management for these families. He explained that they came up with countless concepts. How do you know which concept to make? He continued that the common approach might be: Why not build it and see?
“Speed-dating” is a perfect activity for Valentine’s Day
Strengthening individuals, marriages, families and communities Monday, May 12, Speed Friendshipping Activity We did this with the Relief Society sisters at church. This is based of “Speed Dating” where everyone gets minutes to talk to a person and then they ring a bell and you move to the next person to talk to and so on.
We had two rows of chairs set up to face each other and then had one row move down a seat each time.
Speed dating almost always is conducted the same way, with a few variations on the placement of the daters, the time limit and so forth. In most cases, the women sit and remain seated for the duration of the speed-dating event.
This article will treat the subject under the following three heads: The notions and divisions of suicide; II. The principles according to which its morality must be judged; III. Statistics and explanations of its frequency. NOTION Suicide is the act of one who causes his own death, either by positively destroying his own life, as by inflicting on himself a mortal wound or injury, or by omitting to do what is necessary to escape death, as by refusing to leave a burning house.
From a moral standpoint we must treat therefore not only the prohibition of positive suicide, but also the obligation incumbent on man to preserve his life.

Attention Balance Compassion Mindfulness is a way of being in the world that incorporates an acute attention to your senses and everything around you, a sense of balance that leads to a steadiness in both the mind and heart, and a dose of compassion, both for yourself and again for everything around you. It is a place that features awareness without judgment; there is no good or bad, no right or wrong, no gorgeous or ugly — there just is.
Relatively, that is, since the history of mindfulness itself stretches back to Buddhism, where the concept emerged through Eastern meditation practices.
Whether you are the parent of a teen boy or girl, you need to teach your teen proper dating etiquette. This isn’t just about holding doors open for ladies and using manners during dinner; it’s about respect, courtesy and what’s appropriate when it comes to dating as a teen.
First, there was speed dating. Now there is speed interviewing. This may be the first interview the candidate has for a job with an employer. Typically, it takes place at that employer’s location. When the interview is scheduled, ask for details about the interview, like the names and job titles of the people who will be interviewing you.
This should help you in your preparation and follow up. The goal of speed interviews is to save everyone’s time, and to interview as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. It also gives employers a chance to see how the candidates respond to pressure and competition.

Last week we ended with the Secret Ingredient that Ties Top Teams Together , where the bottom line is that people need to really know each other before they can become a high performing team. When team members have understood and accepted the power of disclosure I do a number of team building activities that helps them get everything together.
Example of some of these questions are:
Speed Dating This is one of my favourite activities for Speaking and Listening practice. I use it in French lessons but it can be adapted for any subject. Preparation: Provide pupils with a list of questions related to a previous lesson. You could use cue cards or the whiteboard. ‘Speed Dating‘ teaching and learning strategy.
This will enable us to identify activities in our textbooks which have most of the characteristics of tasks. It will also enable us to identify activities which we can adjust and turn into tasks. When is an activity not a task? Task-based teaching is about creating opportunities for meaning-focused language use.
In other words, learners doing tasks will not just be speaking to practise a new structure e. There is a place for form-focused activities in task-based learning TBL , but activities such as these are not tasks. Learners doing tasks i. What kind of activity is a task? Willis and Willis Will the activity engage learners’ interest? Is there a primary focus on meaning? Is there a goal or an outcome? Is success judged in terms of outcome? Is completion a priority?

Lots and lots of talking — give the students a chance to speak in English and practice communicating without looking at someone. Lots and lots of listening — the students will need to listen very carefully to catch the important information. Before class — print off the worksheet and info sheets. Cut the info into individual sized pieces.
Students will then create a character for themselves and take part in a speed dating role play, as well as deciding how important love is in our lives. Aims: To practise and .
One of the issues that I try to address in the classroom is to have each student talking with the other students about their academic work. If you have students in groups, some will dominate and some will play wall flower. With speed learning, students are challenged to have several one on one conversations with the other students. I communicate a defined outcome as well as a time limit to help focus the discussions. Steps for using the method in class: Use speed learning in cases where each student has something unique to share, it could be workshopping their project ideas or sharing a news article they were asked to being in.
Students arrange themselves so that each person is sitting across from one other person. Place a visible countdown timer so that students are able to manage their time well. Use a graphic organizer to focus the listener and facilitate active participation. Example from History of Anything project Have the students switch times depending on the desired outcome of the activity.

Each girl gets a chance to pick or steal something that has already been opened. Once something is stolen twice, it can’t be stolen again. Here are some ideas of cheap and easy presents we brought. Commercials Bring a ton of props stuffed animals, blankets, sports equipment, dress up clothing and add to your stash by having the girls bring one item of their choosing. Everyone picks an item, then split them into groups. Have them prepare a “commercial” for the product they’ve come up with using those items.
52 Young Women’s Mutual Activity Ideas (that’s a whole year, baby!) I’ve been moved. Snatched out of Young Women’s and sentenced to Primary teaching music and singing with the kids (again) because everyone knows that young children want nothing else than to hear my tenor “man voice” every Sunday.
