The Destiny matchmaking debate rears its head yet again

Jemas Jemas 3 years ago 1 There is a lot of chatter and complaining about the end game raids not having a match making aspect. But this guy explained it in a simple way, that seems to get the point across. Then I watched it again. I really did miss what Luke Smith was outlining for Raids. I am guilty of not seeing the trees through the forest. Not sure if it is because most of the last 15 plus years I have mainly been an FPS player, the fact that Bungie made Halo – a game I have loved and played since the beginning – or because of distractions while watching the video.

Destiny Won’t Be Getting Raid Matchmaking, Here’s Why

No spam, no fuss; just the latest updates delivered right to you. You’re Good to Go! The long matchmaking times and associated errors have been resolved, according to Bungie. A number of other problems are still lingering on both platforms, however. To see what else Bungie is aware of, check out the full list of Destiny 2’s known issues.

Destiny matchmaking taking a long time. Looking for those to the witcher card game is. Not to meet eligible single man seeking women. Team gwent, players i hope people aren’t.

Never got any of the expansions, so feel free to correct me on things. My argument is that raids in WoW and SWTOR have a form of matchmaking Group Finder that allows people to play a selection of raids from easy to hard difficulty for the older content. I know for SWTOR, the newer raids aren’t included in the Group Finder until later on in the year when people are more geared and experienced with the current expansion.

Considering these raids are more complex than VoG and still require people to play their role at a basic level, it’s not like Destiny has to worry about people’s classes considering everyone’s primary method of doing damage is with shooting. Within that raid, you will also get another reward for getting up to a certain point with a Group Finder group. That way, your group doesn’t have to complete the raid unless you folks decide on it.

This is how I personally would like to see a form of matchmaking for raids to be implemented. In this case, VoG normal is legacy. After that, Crota normal mode could be added for possible matchmaking.

The Destiny matchmaking debate rears its head yet again

Dec 9, Destiny — Matchmaking updates address connection complaints Bungie further tweaked the Crucible matchmaking settings yesterday, no doubt in response to months of complaints on their own forums and the DestinyTheGame subreddit, in an attempt to create lobbies with better connections. In simplistic terms, it attempts to match you with players at a similar skill level to you, ensuring games are close, and everyone is competitive.

Bungie feel this is important for the health of Crucible.

Like any great MMO, Destiny is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its community. The latest Nightfall strike has been made more profitable and a new update has improved Legendary drops in the Crucible, but what about those raids. More specifically, will Bungie ever add a matchmaking capability.

It’s not how do we change the raid-design philosophy to allow for matchmaking. So how do they plan to do this? Well, Smith offers something of an old-school suggestion Where you can say ‘I want to do this. Are you looking to do this with me?

However, something he didn’t cover and I think is worthy of its own discussion is matchmaking. Anyone who’s been a Destiny player for a while will know about the matchmaking issues the game has had. There’s a reason for these problems, and it has to do with a choice every developer has to make when it comes to matchmaking. There are three main elements to matchmaking that developers can choose to focus on: Skill matching – the teams will be balanced, and all players in the game will be of roughly equal skill.

The game will be competitive; Connection matching – the game will have good connection low latency, no desync, etc. Now a developer can only choose two of these to focus on. If they want players to have competitive games with good connections then the players will have to wait longer for a good match to be found. If the devs want players to have a short queue time and good connection, the skill levels of the players will not be closely matched and the game, therefore, will not be competitive.

If the developers want players to have a short queue time and a competitive game, connection quality will suffer. Throughout Destiny 1, Bungie has consistently wanted fast matchmaking.

Destiny has no matchmaking…?

No, neither can we. I should have listened. When Bungie said there would be no matchmaking in Vault of Glass there was a mini-uproar. Chiming in with the rest of the chorus was easy. Bungie should allow matchmaking in the raid, I said, as failing to do so would wall off the best content from users incapable of assembling a sufficiently powerful team. While this was correct, Bungie maintained that the raid itself was too complex to be attempted with randoms.

Destiny No Heroic Matchmaking The cut throat greed of Cashtivision these days really is just harming the brands it publishes.. Give each vendor enough coins and youll level up your reputation with them. For those who want to play solo, then Guided Games combines the two concepts. Hope you will soon feel the comeback coming. There is nothing to work towards in the endgame and the exotics feel bland and weak.. This is a game thats straddling the borders between too many kinds of experiences, and in its attempts to have something for everyone, it never fully satisfies on any one front. After playing through most of the games, I can say that I expected more.

Destiny 2 Raids and Nightfall Will Have Matchmaking… Sort of

Then again, Destiny is a game that literally bores me to sleep. So a lack of matchmaking isn’t really going to change the course of my day one way or another, other than the fact that I’m writing.

Similarly, they have quite a bit of experience with creating huge sprawling, sci-fi worlds. While many games use a centralized server with a player limit to support multiplayer experiences, Bungie is going a different direction with Destiny. Using these mesh networks, players will always have companions to interact with regardless of where they are in the world of Destiny. In an ideal world, players will never encounter an area that feels empty.

And that means playing to the strengths of the consoles. Being able to use these very powerful machines to run a lot of the simulation. As Butcher explains, Bungie has optimized the Destiny engine very well, to the point they can still generate a comparable experience on the Xbox and PS3.

Bungie Has ‘No Plans’ to Bring Raid Matchmaking to Destiny

Edited by Magic Air: My original post is here: The quote of which you can see at the bottom of this post. I’d also like to outline a few simple points here.

“Theio allows players to quickly join a clan of players without lifting a finger” “If you need friends to play Destiny with, there are literally people who are waiting to make your acquaintance. You have nothing to lose, and only teammates to gain.”.

Comments Shares The Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes event has now gone live, and with it, the final batch of Moments of Triumph challenges have been revealed. An in-game achievement system commemorating landmark Guardian activities over the course of the game’s first year, each of the tasks in the Moments of Triumph list has an assigned points score, with new loot available at certain thresholds, from Sparrows, to emblems, to a rather pretty new gilded Ghost shell.

Most Triumphs work retroactively, meaning that you’ll likely have completed a few already if you’ve been playing Destiny 2 for a while. But while some, like completing the campaign, are certainly straightforward, others require a bit of finesse – or at least a dash of canny optimisation of approach — if you want to complete them as efficiently as possible. Below, I’ve picked out these more nuanced or time-consuming challenges, and laid out exactly the quickest and cleanest ways to get them done.

I’ve also explained how – if at all – they play into upgrading the new Solstice armour set that forms the backbone to some of the Solstice of Heroes event. You have plenty of time to complete your Moments of Triumph – points can be earned from now until the end of the Solstice of Heroes event on August 28 – but no-one wants to be rushing in the lead-up to the massive Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion , right?

So load in, head to the Tower, and interact with the Solstice statue in the Tower to claim that starting armour and get things rolling. As for the tasks you might need help with, they start with Check Out My Arsenal Task:

How to get Nightfall matchmaking (kind of) in Destiny

Gameplay[ edit ] Destiny gameplay Destiny’s style has been described as a first-person shooter that incorporates role-playing and MMO elements, but Bungie has avoided describing Destiny as a traditional MMO game. For instance, rather than players being able to communicate with all other players in the game or on a particular server — as is the case in many conventional MMO games — Destiny includes on-the-fly matchmaking that allows players to communicate only with other players with whom they are “matched” by the game.

To communicate with other players in the game world, players must use their respective console’s messaging system. A social space on Mercury was added with the House of Wolves expansion, but requires players to go undefeated in the Trials of Osiris Crucible mode in order to access it.

No joke, just the other day i got placed with an entire team of people with k/d’s lower than 1. I was the only one sith a k/d of like or more on my team, and i tried to carry so hard. I had something like 25 kills per game and thos happened 3 times in a row.

It doesn’t really matter. Here is why I came to understand that. Destiny is truly different from what I and many others are used to.
